If you have a mac, you can use GarageBand (comes free on every mac) – I have made pfat beats with that program. Here are some examples:

All those songs are made completely in GarageBand, it took me about 2 hours to learn.

these are the two that i got started with, later i moved on to Kinetic2…
But these two are free, there are others listed on the top left of the given link, and choose any that you like. These two here are my personal favorites..
